of the town of Suzdal, Vladimir Region. The region is situated in the very
heart of the European part of Russia.
Suzdal is a beautiful ancient Russian town rich in wonderful monuments of the past. In the 12th-13th centuries Suzdal was one of the most important towns of ancient Rus. In Vladimir-Suzdal area a specific architectural style was developed, the main monuments of which are retained in our time and presented in a wide variety in Suzdal. The buried in greenery silhouettes of churches and cathedrals with golden domes can be seen from everywhere in this town. Suzdal is patriarchal and slow, though it is visited by hundreds of thousand tourists. It hosts many scientific seminars, conferences, world-level competitions. Suzdal is a part of the "Golden Ring" of Russia; it is situated 30 km from the city of Vladimir. The city of Vladimir (180 km east from Moscow) was founded on a high bank of Klyazma river by Vladimir Monomakh in 1108. In the 12th century Vladimir was the capital of North-Eastern Rus, in the 12th-13th centuries it became the main town of Rus that played the leading role in the political, cultural and religious life of the country up to the 14th century. Vladimir is a beautiful green city where modern buildings exist in the neighborhood of unique architectural monuments: Cathedral of the Assumption, St. Dimitry cathedral, Golden Gates, Church of the Intercession on the Nerl (the 12th century). 400 thousand inhabitants of the city maintain and multiply the fame of Vladimir as the cultural, industrial and scientific center. The "Turcentr" complex provides a rich choice of services. It offers twenty-four-hour bars, several restaurants (8.00 a.m. - 23.00 p.m. open), self-service cafes (9.00 a.m. - 15.00 p.m. set meals), billiard-rooms, sauna, swimming-pool (swimming before breakfast is included into charge for a room). |
